What is NIA (What is NIA) ?, NIA Sub-Inspector Selection Process, Exam Pattern & Salary – NIA is one of the leading investigative agencies in India. It works to detect and prevent anti-terrorism activities at the national level. Its job is to gather and execute intelligence. The NIA has been active in India since the Mumbai attack (26/11). The NIA (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed by Parliament on 17 July 2019. The purpose of this bill was to provide more powers to the NIA. The Bill empowered the NIA to investigate terror attacks that harm Indians and Indian interests abroad.
What is NIA ?
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is the National Counter-Terrorism Task Force of India. This agency is empowered to deal with terrorism related crimes in the states without special permission from the states. The National Investigation Agency came into existence on 31 December 2008. It was constituted by the Parliament under the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008. It was passed after the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai.
The first director general of the NIA was Radha Vinod Raju, who remained in the post till 31 January 2010. It is headquartered in New Delhi with Haj and its branches in Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, Raipur and Jammu. The NIA maintains the Most Wanted List.
How can I recruit in NIA ?
If you want to get admitted in NIA then the recruitment of Sub-Inspector is the most prominent option. For this, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination every year. Through this examination, candidates are selected for appointment to the posts of Group B and Group C in the Ministries and Departments of the Central Government. By passing this exam, you can become a sub-inspector in the NIA.
Eligibility for NIA Sub-Inspector
To be admitted to the NIA as a sub-inspector, you must be a graduate from any of the identified universities for the SSC-CGL examination to be held. You must not be more than 30 years of age for this examination. Candidates belonging to reserved classes get relaxation in the maximum age limit, such as: 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC ST, 10 years relaxation for PwDs.
How to choose a Sub Inspector in NIA (Selection Process of NIA Sub-Inspector)
SSC CGL exam is conducted in 4 tiers. In the first tier, questions are asked from the topics of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and General English and in the second tier exam, General Information (Finance and Economics), Quantitative Aptitude, English and Statistics. Successful candidates in both these tiers have to appear in the third tier written examination, in which the candidates have to solve detailed answer questions. This is followed by computer proficiency test / data entry speed test in the fourth stage.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern
Tier: 1 (Time: 1 hour, Integer: 200)
● Common sense and reasoning: 25 numbers
● General awareness: 25 numbers
● Numerical Aptitude: 25 Numbers
● General English: 25 numbers
Note: This exam is computer based, in which 2 marks will be scored on a correct answer to a question and 0.50 marks will be deducted from your total score on a wrong answer.
Tier: 2 (Time: 2 hours / paper, integer: 200 / paper)
● Quantitative Aptitude
● General Awareness (Finance and Economics)
● English Language & Comprehension
Tier: 3 (Time: 1 hour, integer: 100)
Candidates who have been successful in the first and then second tier have to appear in the written examination of this tier. In this tier, answers have to be written for detailed answer questions in Hindi or English language. It may include questions like essay writing, letter writing, letter writing. Its time limit is one hour i.e. 60 minutes. The integer for this exam is 100.
Tier : 4 (DEST & CPT)
Candidates who have succeeded in Tier 3 have computer skill test in this tier. It is conducted in two phases: DEST and CPT.
Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)
Candidates have to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This examination is conducted to check the writing skill of the candidate. This test is only given to the candidates for the post of Tax Assistant.
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)
This test is conducted to test the ability of candidates in word processing, spreadsheet and slide generation. This test is given by the candidates applying for the post of Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Central Excise Inspector, Preventive Officer etc.
Salary of NIA Sub-Inspector
The Sub-Inspector in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is appointed at the Group B level. They are paid per month as per pay matrix level 6 (35,400 to 1,24,400 rupees) of the 7th Pay Commission. Apart from this, many other monthly allowances and facilities are also available.
